The Minister for Employment and Labour Relations, Hon. Ignatius Baffour Awuah, has commissioned sixteen Public Employment Centers (PECs) across Ghana, including a new facility in Atebubu, as part of the Ghana Skills and Jobs Project. The initiative aims to enhance skills development, job matching, and labor market data collection nationwide.
The PECs are strategically located in all 16 regions, including Kenyasi (Ahafo), Odumasi (Bono), Konongo (Ashanti), Atebubu (Bono East).

The centers will host Ghana Labour Market Information System (GLMIS), a digital platform to connect job seekers with employers and provide real-time labor market data. Hon. Baffour Awuah emphasized GLMIS will “revolutionize job searches” and inform policy decisions.
The project aligns with the NPP government’s “Agenda for Jobs” and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). The Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. Kwasi Adu-Gyan, highlighted the centers’ potential to reduce illegal migration.
Atebubu-Amantin MCE, Hon. Edward Owusu, praised the siting of a PEC in the municipality and received a new Toyota Hilux for the Labor Department.
The PECs address youth unemployment by improving access to job opportunities and skills training, while GLMIS ensures data-driven labor market policies.
