The Atebubu-Amantin Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Thomas Masud Musah Ayaaba, has emphasized the need for effective revenue mobilization in the municipality to generate essential resources for development.
He made the call during his sessional address at the first ordinary meeting of the Atebubu-Amantin Municipal Assembly for the year in Atebubu.
Hon. Ayaaba revealed that the assembly’s management has held a series of meetings with revenue collectors, which will lead to a training program aimed at enhancing their efficiency. Additionally, the assembly plans to launch a public sensitization campaign to encourage residents to fulfill their financial obligations to the local authority.
His address covered key areas such as security, finance, development projects, education, social support, agriculture, the 24-hour economy, and the Accelerated Export Programme.
The MCE acknowledged that while collaborative efforts between the central government and the municipal assembly have reduced armed robbery, petty theft within communities remains a challenge.
“Hon. Presiding Member, as of May 31, 2025, the assembly’s total revenue from all sources amounted to GHC 3,359,113.84, representing 21.26% of the annual target of GHC 15,797,711.25,” he stated, expressing optimism that the assembly will achieve its full target by year-end.
On development projects, Hon. Ayaaba noted that education receives the largest share of investments—about 37%—with the remainder allocated to governance, security, health, water and sanitation, and economic development.
He highlighted challenges in education, including inadequate classroom furniture and infrastructure maintenance, assuring that provisions from the District Assembly Common Fund for the 2025 fiscal year will address these issues.
The MCE urged local businesses to leverage the 24-hour economy and Accelerated Export Programme to boost productivity, create jobs, and foster inclusive growth. He also encouraged assembly members to promote the government’s Feed Ghana agricultural initiative among constituents, particularly the youth, to enhance wealth creation.
The meeting concluded with discussions on the Executive Committee’s report presented by the MCE.
