The Atebubu-Amantin Municipal Assembly has finally filled its year-long presiding member vacancy, electing Hon. Yahaya Dindiok with an overwhelming majority during a special sitting on May 6, 2025. The assembly also confirmed Hon. Thomas Masud Musa Ayaaba as Municipal Chief Executive in the same session.
Hon. Dindiok secured 32 out of 42 votes (72.7%), defeating his sole contender, Elijah Donyina. The election was conducted by the Electoral Commission of Ghana.
Her Worship Nana Achiaa Buruwaa Ababioh, Atebubu District Court Magistrate, administered the oaths of office, allegiance, and secrecy. In his acceptance speech, Hon. Dindiok pledged to prioritize municipal development.
The event was graced by Hon. Sanja Nanja (MP for Atebubu-Amantin), Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi (Bono East Regional Minister), NDC executives, traditional leaders, and security officials.
The assembly had operated without a presiding member since its inauguration in February 2024, making this election crucial for restoring full governance capacity.
