The Atebubu-Amantin municipal assembly is to institute an award for the cleanest community in the municipality as part of the National Sanitation Day initiative.

This was announced by the municipal chief executive Hon. Masud Musah Ayarba Thomas when Jato Zongo a predominantly farming community took its turn to mark the monthly clean up exercise.

Elated by the high turnout of the people, the MCE expressed his gratitude to them for the massive response and urged them to continue with good sanitation practices to keep the town clean.

“We are introducing an ‘operation clean your frontage exercise that will ensure that everyone cleans his or her surroundings which will collectively lead to cleaner communities within the municipality.” The MCE said.

He used the occasion to engage the people on some development projects earmarked for the community.

The about 3 hour exercise saw the people led by the assemblyman Hon. Ishahaku Mohammed desilt gutters and sweep various parts of town including the CHPS compound.

Some of the people expressed their gratitude to the municipal assembly for the initiative and asked that the exercise is made a regular feature.

The municipal environmental health officer Mr. Bismarck Oti thanked the people for participating in the exercise and asked them to strive to maintain clean surroundings at all times to ensure good health.
