103 PWDs BENEFIT FROM DISABILITY FUND IN ATEBUBU-AMANTIN

Thirty-two beneficiaries received deep freezers whiles 7 others took home fufu preparation machines together with a start-up cash amount of five hundred Ghana cedis each.
A total of 49 beneficiaries got GHC3000.00 each to boost their farming and petty trading activities whiles 3 took home a total of GHC8000.00 to help meet the cost of apprenticeship.
Two beneficiaries who are shoe makers received industrial sewing machines together with grinders whiles 10 caregivers took home GHC3000.00 each.
Welcoming participants to the ceremony, the municipal director of the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development Mr. Emmanuel Bukari said the gesture is aimed at boosting the productive capacities of the PWDs.
He urged families with disabled children to desist from keeping them away from the public but rather register them with his outfit so they can also benefit from future support.
The Atebubu-Amantin municipal chief executive Hon. Masud Musah Ayarba Thomas said the objective of the disability fund is to improve the well-being of the disabled and urged them to put the items to good use.
The MCE indicated that the assembly for the first time decided to add a little start-up capital to facilitate the businesses of beneficiaries who received items like freezers and fufu preparation machines.
He said the assembly last November presented cash support amounting to thirty-seven thousand Ghana Cedis to 21 members of the group.
Mr. Shaibu Sulemana, local chairman the Ghana Federation of Disability Organizations praised the MCE for his favorable disposition to PWDs in the municipality and thanked government for the assistance.
He urged his colleagues to take advantage of the support to improve their well-being.
