The Atebubu-Amantin Municipal Assembly, alongside the Municipal Security Committee and staff of the Judicial Service, attended the final funeral rites of the late Omanhene of the Atebubu Traditional Area, Nana Owusu Akyeaw Brempong II. The three-day ceremony, held in Atebubu, was marked by rich cultural displays and attended by dignitaries from across Ghana.
The late Omanhene, who reigned for 47 years, passed away in 2020 and was laid to rest in 2022. The funeral saw Ohenpong Yeboah Asiamah I, the current Omanhene of the Atebubu Traditional Area, and his elders sitting in state, celebrating the life and legacy of the departed leader with grandeur and reverence.
The event drew prominent figures, including President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and former President John Dramani Mahama, as well as traditional leaders from the Brong Ahafo region and beyond. A delegation led by the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Joseph Tang, presented an undisclosed donation to the Traditional Council in support of the funeral arrangements.
The ceremony highlighted the deep cultural heritage of the Atebubu people, blending solemnity with vibrant traditions to honor the late Omanhene’s enduring impact on the community.
