The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) organized a parliamentary debate in Atebubu on November 15, 2024, featuring candidates from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the Progressive People’s Party (PPP). The event aimed to help voters make informed decisions in the upcoming December elections.
Abu Issa Dimie of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) promised to: Build schools in deprived communities, Promote youth engagement in agriculture, Expand healthcare access with new CHPS compounds, Improve roads through the District Road Improvement Project, Facilitate loans for local traders.
Abraham Kwaku Henaa (PPP) pledged to: Construct a modern office for the Municipal Education Directorate, Provide skills training for youth employability, Build hostel facilities for patients’ relatives at Atebubu Government Hospital, Ensure proper road layouts and market upgrades, Standardize maize measurements to boost farmers’ incomes.
Hon. Amadu Ali, the first MP of the constituency in the Fourth Republic, shared valuable perspectives on the role of a legislator. Both candidates affirmed their dedication to a violence-free electoral process. Residents raised concerns and suggestions during an open forum, which the candidates addressed.
With the incumbent NDC MP, Hon. Sanja Nanja, not participating, the debate provided a platform for voters to assess alternative visions for the constituency’s development.
