Atebubu-Amantin Launches National Sanitation Day with Three-Hour Clean-Up Exercise

Posted on August 3, 2025August 10, 2025 By admin No Comments on Atebubu-Amantin Launches National Sanitation Day with Three-Hour Clean-Up Exercise

A three-hour clean-up exercise marked the maiden edition of the National Sanitation Day in Atebubu. The event, organized by the Atebubu-Amantin Municipal Assembly in collaboration with key stakeholders, included desilting gutters, sweeping, and weeding around the central business district and the municipal hospital.

Participants included the Atebubu Traditional Council, Zoomlion Company Limited, Ralf Blazo Ventures (a private waste collection company), government departments, youth and trade groups, and educational institutions.

Speaking after the exercise, the Omanhene of Atebubu Traditional Area, Ohempong Yeboah Asiamah—who personally took part—said the initiative complements the council’s efforts to maintain a clean community regularly. He emphasized that the high incidence of typhoid and cholera in the municipality highlights the urgent need for improved sanitation and urged residents to take sanitation seriously.

The Atebubu-Amantin Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Thomas Masud Masah Ayarba, expressed gratitude to the Omanhene and all stakeholders involved. He announced that the exercise would become a regular event and revealed plans to clear refuse dumps and provide waste containers for better waste management.

Hon. Ayarba also introduced an upcoming initiative, “Operation Clean Your Frontage,” which will require residents to maintain cleanliness in their immediate surroundings. He warned that the Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit of the assembly would prosecute offenders who fail to comply.

The event was attended by the Member of Parliament for Atebubu-Amantin, Hon. Sanja Nanja, and the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Joseph Tang.
