The Atebubu-Amantin office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) marked this year’s Independence anniversary with a quiz competition for selected basic schools in the municipality.
Contestants from Atebubu Presbyterian JHS A, Atebubu Methodist JHS B, Atebubu Anglican JHS, and the Early Childhood Development (ECD) Model JHS answered questions primarily on the 1992 Constitution, along with current affairs.
After a keenly contested event, Atebubu Methodist JHS B emerged victorious with 89 points, followed by the ECD Model JHS in second place with 80 points, and Atebubu Presbyterian JHS A in third place with 78 points. All participating schools received certificates of participation.
In a speech read on her behalf, the Acting Municipal Director of the NCCE, Mrs. Evelyn Laar, explained that the quiz, organized nationwide, aims to deepen pupils’ understanding of the 1992 Constitution as Ghana’s supreme law and keep them informed about current national issues.
Other speakers, including Pastor Nelson Aho of the Galilean Prayer Ministry (who served as quiz master) and Mr. Cobbinah Williams, Training Officer at the Municipal Education Directorate, commended the pupils and teachers for their impressive performance. They encouraged the students to maintain the same level of dedication in their academic pursuits.
The event was attended by officials from the Municipal Assembly, educators, and community members, reinforcing the NCCE’s commitment to civic education among Ghanaian youth.
