The Atebubu-Amantin Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Thomas Masud Musa Ayaaba, has called on Sarki Dufailu Imoro Osman, the Zongo Chief of Atebubu, and his elders to interact with them, seek their support, and receive their blessings.
As the first Muslim Chief Executive of the municipality, Hon. Ayaaba pledged to work hard to uplift the image of Zongo communities under his jurisdiction. He emphasized improvements in Islamic education and the provision of scholarships for students from Zongo communities as key steps toward achieving this goal.
The MCE also promised to prioritize sanitation, water, roads, and other essential infrastructure, ensuring that Zongo communities receive their fair share of development.
In response, Sarki Imoro Osman expressed dissatisfaction with the government’s decision to site the proposed Agriculture University at Forikrom near Techiman instead of Atebubu, given the latter’s strong agrarian potential. He further called for the creation of a separate region for districts in the eastern enclave of the Bono East Region and the division of Atebubu and Amantin into two distinct districts to accelerate development.
While pledging the support of the Atebubu Zongo community to the MCE, Sarki Imoro Osman advised him to work diligently to pave the way for other Zongo community members aspiring to higher positions in the future.
Various elders, including tribal chiefs, highlighted critical issues facing the Atebubu Zongo community, such as sanitation, water, and road infrastructure, and offered prayers for the MCE’s success.
Present at the meeting were officials from the Municipal Assembly and constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
